Testimonies
I have been pregnant twice and Heather was involved with my second. The birth of oldest daughter was nothing but stress and fear. My OB was great, don’t get me wrong, but I was scared and intimidated and going through the whole thing pretty much on my own. That birth ended up with an epidural and completely doctor led. It ended up not being the greatest of experiences.
Jump ahead almost 10 years to my second pregnancy. Heather was there the day I found out and I was beyond excited, but those old fears started creeping up again. I talked to her about literally everything and she put my mind at ease, promising she would be there every step of the way. Needless to say, she kept that promise. Any fear I had, any question that came up, she was there helping me and providing me with answers. She informed me of every option available to me, options I didn’t know I had with my first. She helped me figure out what it was that I wanted by helping educate me with the things I didn’t know about. Unfortunately, little miss didn’t give us the time to have her with me during the birth, but because of her, I found my voice. I told the doctors what I wanted and it was followed with the understanding that should something happen outside of my birth plan, they were to keep me fully informed so I could make the decision with full knowledge of my options. On August 22 of 2019, I was able to have my daughter naturally with only a very mild med to help me relax when my anxiety started to spike at the very beginning of me getting to the hospital. It was the best experience I could have ever asked for, despite the pain, and I have Heather to thank for that and for helping me find the strength in myself again that I hadn’t had in a long time. For anyone seeking a doula, this wonderful lady is the one I would definitely recommend. Honestly, I recommend her to anyone who is pregnant in general or wanting to become pregnant. She is definitely someone to have in your corner and I would give her 1000 stars if that was a thing. -Stefanie Means- |
I went through my whole pregnancy thinking that I could get through labor and delivery on my own, but after being pushed by my mom to hire a doula, I finally gave in and hired Heather week before my due date. I could't have made a better decision!
I realize now how absolutely unprepared I was. At our first meeting Heather gave me a sample birth plan and helped tailor it to my needs, encouraging me to take it back home and go over it with my husband. There were so many delivery options and procedures that I wasn't even aware of, and I know I would have been totally overwhelmed if I didn't walk into the hospital with a plan of action. I labored at home for several hours, and Heather came by my house to help with pain management. At the hospital she was an invaluable voice of reason and made sure I knew exactly what was happening at any given moment. During delivery I was very disrespected by my doctor and Heather did a wonderful job both advocating for me and making sure I had the correct information should I choose to pursue legal charges. My breastfeeding journey was off to a rough start at first, and Heather was an amazing resource and a huge encouragement during our postpartum appointments. It was especially helpful to have her stop by and check on my daughter's latch. She is a wealth of information, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula! -Gianna Oh- My first pregnancy I did without a doula and my midwife was hardly involved. It was pretty traumatic and I don’t have the best memories from that pregnancy. But with my second, I decided to get a doula, and Heather agreed to be mine. She was in constant communication with me through my pregnancy. She checked up on me and even though I was already a mother and went through labor before, she helped educate me and gave me so much information I didn’t know about the first time around. She helped make my pregnancy and delivery so memorable. I delivered in a birthing center in Wichita Falls on Christmas Day 2019. My husband was overseas and my mother in law was with my daughter but Heather stayed by my side the entire delivery. I was worried how it would be for me to deliver without my husband but through the 2 hours in labor and after the birth Heather never stopped giving me the support and attention I needed. I felt such a great connection to her the first time we met, and my oldest daughter absolutely adores her! I never thought I’d be able to have a birthing experience like this one. I had a lot of doubts about doing it without medication this time around and family stress had a big negative impact for me. But Heather believed in me. She never pressured me, instead, she encouraged me to believe in myself and follow the plan I believed I was strong enough to do. And I did. I couldn’t possibly thank her enough for the experience she has given me.
